The water vapor of the air always permeates from the high-temperature side to the low-temperature side. A special air house wrap insulation vapour barrier membrane for cold storage is arranged on the high-temperature side of the rigid insulation vapor barrier layer, while Flashspun Hypak™ waterproof & breathable material wall insulation vapor barrier with strong hydrophobic and breathability is arranged on the low-temperature side, weather smart building wrap can not only prevents water vapor from entering the wall insulation vapor barrier layer but also allow the water infiltrating into the insulation vapour barrier to diffuse.

Reduce Energy Consumption


The combination of dredging and blocking can avoid the accumulation of water vapor in the envelope, keep the insulation layer dry, reduce the probability of cold bridge formation and the frost heave damage probability of the insulation layer, improve the insulation capacity of buildings and reduce energy consumption.

How does Hypak™ work?

Water vapor naturally moves from areas of high temperature to areas of low temperature. With a special air barrier membrane on the warmer side of the thermal insulation and the hydrophobic,  waterproof, and breathable Hypak™ on the colder side, water vapor is prevented from entering the insulation and any water that has infiltrated the envelope gets to disperse. Dispersing and blocking simultaneously stops water vapor from gathering in the envelope, keeps insulation dry, reduces cold bridge formation, minimizes freezing and expansion damage of the insulation, boosts building heat preservation and cuts energy consumption.


Challenges for the Cold Storage


At present, there are more than 100,000 cold storage facilities in China, and the number is still growing. Cold storage facilities typically operate at internal temperatures ranging from -30°C to -10°C, resulting in a significant 60°C temperature difference across the building envelope. To ensure optimal performance and  minimize energy consumption, the envelope of a cold storage facility requires excellent thermal insulation and moisture-proofing capabilities.


Great Airtightness

The combination of a vapor  barrier material and a waterproof  and breathable material can  meet the stringent airtightness  design requirements of cold  storage, lower the temperature  fluctuation inside, reduce cold  bridges, support better cold  preservation and improve the  economics of a building


Vapor Barrier

The permeability of vapor barrier material is less than 1.5g/m² per 24 hours, which effectively blocks the penetration of water vapor into the thermal insulation on the high-temperature side of the cold storage envelope. At the same time, the waterproof  and breathable Hypak™ membrane realizes  water repellency while dispersing the water  vapor, which keeps the insulation dry and  avoids condensation, freezing and expansion


Heat Radiation

Reflection Properly processed Hypak™  offers enhanced insulation properties for cold storage building envelopes by effectively reflecting heat radiation, exhibiting high reflectivity up to 90% when it comes to the near-infrared spectrum.

    The water vapor permeation of the vapor rigid wall insulation with vapor barrier material is less than 1.5 g/m2 24h, which can effectively block the water vapor permeation from the high temperature side of the cold storage to the house wrap insulation layer; the Flashspun Hypak™ water resistive and vapour permeance house wrap insulation barriers can realize waterproofing and allow water vapor to be discharged smoothly, keeping the rigid insulation with vapor barrier layer dry and avoiding condensation and frost heaving.
