Hypak™: A Disruptive Medical Packaging Material!

Hypak™ material: high in strength and difficult to break


Decades ago, the main materials for packaging medical devices were medical dialysis paper, but its strength was only average and could only be used for lightweight medical devices. The commonly used medical non-woven fabric and crepe paper are also very fragile.


Hypak™ material is far stronger than other materials, because it is made of 100% virgin high-density polyethylene through flash spinning technology, and it is a continuous filament product with an ultra-fine fiber network structure, so its physical properties are also very strong.


Hypak™ material is tear-resistant, puncture-resistant, and fold-resistant, resistant to transportation and storage conditions in special situations, and can be used for packaging irregular and sharp medical devices without damage, thereby ensuring the sterility and integrity of the medical devices.

Bacterial resistance and breathability ensure sterile packaging


Due to the extremely dense structure and small pore size of Hypak™ material, it can not only block various liquid penetration, but also effectively prevent dust, bacteria, microorganisms, particles, aerosols, and has excellent bacterial resistance rate data, making it impossible for bacteria to penetrate the packaging and contact the instruments.


Good breathability is compatible with various sterilization methods such as ethylene oxide, gamma rays, electron beams, steam (under controlled conditions), and plasma hydrogen peroxide.It ensures that sterilization gas can enter the packaging material and penetrate and remove it efficiently before opening, without absorbing the water droplets produced during sterilization, maintaining sterility and dryness.

Clean Peeling to Avoid Instrument Contamination


As all Class III medical devices are implanted into the human body or come into contact with blood, medical packaging must also achieve clean peeling to avoid contamination.


Hypak™ does not produce any debris, fibers, or invisible smaller particles during unpacking, ensuring no contamination to the instruments themselves.

Comparison with other materials:


Compared to medical non-woven fabric: ❌ Paper-plastic packaging bags are not suitable for irregular/sharp surgical instrument packaging as one side of the material is medical dialysis paper with limited tear resistance, suitable only for lighter instruments.

Compared to medical non-woven fabric: ❌ Medical non-woven fabric has limited tear resistance and is prone to damage when exposed to sharp medical instruments repeatedly, requiring specific transportation conditions.

Compared to medical crepe paper:


❌ Medical crepe paper is easily damaged

❌ Not waterproof

Due to the lack of waterproof ability of medical pleated paper, if water droplets are generated under special circumstances during the sterilization process, they will be absorbed by the material, which in severe cases will lead to moisture inside the medical package but not observable from the outside.
